Nintendo, the 126-year company.

At first, Nintendo was a playing card company, that opened in 1889, in Kyoto, Japan.

Later, in 1966, Nintendo, after many fails of other products (eg.a taxi company) started making toys, in the beggining, being the Ultra Hand (an extandable arm).They also made other toys, as the Love Tester and the Ultra Machine.

Nintendo, later (in 1974), got the rights to distribute the Magnavox Odyssey video game console, their first console.3 years later, in 1977, they got to produce their own console, the Color TV-Game.

In 1979, they produced their first handheld, the Game & Watch.

Later, they produced the Famicom (the NES in ocidental versions), that came bundled with some games (that you could choose), as Super Mario Bros.

Later, in 1989, they announced their new release to be in the place of Famicom. Based on a 16-bit processor, Nintendo boasted significantly superior hardware specifications of graphics, sound, and game speed over the original 8-bit Famicom.

And it was the…Super Famicom!

That was in Japan, but out of there, it was called the SNES.

Later, in 1993, they announced the SNES successor, codenamed the Project Reality (later renamed to Ultra 64 and, even later, Nintendo 64), which would use real 3D graphics and run in a 64-bit processor.(that launched in 1996, with Super Mario 64)

They had an enourmous success with it, and, in 2001, they launched the GameCube, their first optical disks reader console, that didn’t sold so well.

The discs are similar to the miniDVD format, and as a result of their smaller size, the system was not designed to play standard DVDs or audio CDs. Nintendo presents a variety of connectivity options for the GameCube. It supports online gaming for a small number of games via the broadband or modem adapter, sold separately; it also connects to the Game Boy Advance, allowing players to access exclusive in-game features using the handheld as a second screen and controller.

Later, in 2006, they launched the Revolution (later named the WII), which had backwards compatibility to the GameCube and that you could download games (from past and actual systems) in an online store; it also had a bluetooth+motion sensor controller.

All of that made the wii VERY famous and their best-selling console,

In 2012, they released the project cafe (WII U), which had backwards compatibility with the Wii and a touch screen device, that came with the console, that has a built in camera and NFC for amiibos (a kind of doll with a microchip)

It’s not selling so well, but it probably will regain public soon;

In May 2015, Universal Parks and Resorts announced that it was teaming up with Nintendo to create attractions at Universal Parks based upon Nintendo’s properties.
